Parental Involvement

The pre-school recognises parents / carers as the first and most important educators of their children. The staff at pre-school see themselves as co-workers with you in providing care and education for your child.

We acknowledges the importance of parents and staff working together to help children settle in to our care and develop confidence to participate in all the activities offered. Some children take longer than others to settle. The treatment of each child as an individual is our main concern.

Settling In

Children are invited to join in a session before officially starting. This is an opportunity for the parent and child to familiarise themselves with the environment, routines and people who they will be joining.

If your child is finding their new experience of starting pre-school stressful, please inform a member of staff who will be happy to help in any way which you see fit. This is not uncommon and is a new experience for both the child and parents/carers.

You can contact us by phone during the session if you are at all concerned.

Dropping off your child

When dropping your child off at the pre-school please use the bottom gate, located at the far end of the school and bring your child to the classroom. Please always make sure the gate is shut behind you to ensure the children’s safety.

Picking your child up

We ask all parents to make sure that they are prompt in collecting their children at 11.15am. Please enter through the bottom gate and wait at the classroom door where your child will be brought out to you.

During Pre-School hours the responsibility for your child's safety lies with the staff. At the end of each session, children need to be transferred to a responsible adult, aged 18 or above, who is known to the staff. Therefore, could you please ensure that the staff know if anyone other than yourself is going to collect your child, e.g. friend, grandparent, and that it is an adult that comes to collect your child. WE CANNOT hand over responsibility of your child to anyone under 18 years of age or who we haven’t been notified will be collecting them.
